Straight answers to Your Questions
In these short videos, we cover the most common questions we get asked about Construction H&S Inspections.
What exactly is a Health & Safety Inspection?
Health & Safety inspections are essential for gathering real-time information on a construction project’s performance. They provide an overview of day-to-day compliance, as seen during the visit.
The site inspection lets you check that your construction project is safe by identifying hazards and suggesting proactive measures to reduce the risk of harm.
I've been asked for an H&S Audit... Are they the same thing?
No. We get asked about this a lot.
Inspections focus on ‘the what’ – immediate occurrences, observations, and required control measures.
Audits focus on ‘the why’ – mainly the root cause following an objective management system evaluation.
Why is there A Need for a Health & Safety Inspection?
Ultimately, a Health & Safety inspection aims to prevent accidents, injuries and illnesses and ensure that the people affected by the activities on a project are not put at undue risk.
From a legal standpoint, The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 state that suitable arrangements should be put in place to monitor a construction site, particularly as the nature of the works is constantly changing.
So, by carrying out a Health & Safety inspection of your project, you will be helping to ensure that you meet the CDM obligations and other applicable H&S legislation.
What's Havio's approach to Health & Safety Inspections?
Most of the industry focuses on what’s wrong. We’re here to change that.
At Havio, we see inspections as an opportunity – not a threat or a nuisance. Our approach is collaborative, constructive, and grounded in the real pressures of site work.
We know Health & Safety is just one part of your bigger picture. That’s why we coach, not police – helping your teams find workable solutions, not just lists of problems.
Because great projects aren’t built on fear of things going wrong or people being blamed – they’re built by teams who feel supported, respected, and heard.
