If you’ve had a look around our site, you’ll see how we go “beyond compliance” When recruiting, we look beyond the CV
We don’t just scan for job titles or qualifications
We’re looking for people who fit. People we can grow with, challenge, and coach.
Sometimes we hire someone not because they tick all the boxes, but because we see potential and possibility.
Something we can build on together.
Several of our most senior consultants started on the tools in construction. Others retrained with us.
We’ve never hired based on a narrow definition of what a “Health & Safety professional” should look like.
Jack and Danny discuss Havio’s approach to recruitment
“AAAA Candidates for an AAAA Company”
We’re going to put it out there and say that we’re not your usual H&S outfit. So we’re not looking for the usual people either.
Your CV might show experience and learned skills – and that’s always valuable.
But when we’re recruiting, we look further.
We look for four A’s: signs you’ve got the mindset to put that experience to work where it counts.
(We’ve met plenty of people who know a lot of things but never really deliver.)
Ability
Your CV shows you’ve got the know-how to do the job.
“Ability” means you’re capable of applying that knowledge effectively, in different situations.
(You also know there’s always more to learn.)
Adaptability
You’re comfortable with variety and stepping outside your comfort zone, adapting to what comes your way.
You can shift between sectors, clients, and contexts without losing focus or impact.
You think on your feet, and you don’t need your hand held. (We’re big on coaching but hand-holding? Not so much.)
Aptitude
Your brain’s wired for this.
You ask smart questions, see around corners, and connect the dots.
You can explain complex ideas simply, and you’re not afraid of the unknown.
Attitude
No passengers and no inflated egos please.
You do what’s needed, when it’s needed, because you care about the human aspects of H&S just as much as business outcomes.
You take responsibility and want to be on the front-line of keeping people “safe and healthy”.
What it’s like here?
If you want a job where you just sit there and do what you’re asked, there’s plenty of consultancies out there for you.
Here, we’re a small, focused team doing serious work (but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.)
One of the things that underpins our whole team is we challenge the status quo in Health & Safety.
We’re anything but wallflowers. We speak up, have each other’s backs, and go all-in for the results that matter to our clients and their teams.
You’ll find Havio’s not built around strict hierarchy or layers of management. (We’re not that kind of company thankfully.)
You’ll find too that we value long term relationships built on trust, autonomy, challenge, and support.
Based on those values, we’ve built a team of people who are sharp, curious, flexible, and unafraid to ask difficult questions and stand firm.
Does that sound like we’re a fit for you?
We’re looking for someone new to join our team…
Not just anyone though. You’ve probably got a year or two in Construction Health & Safety under your belt. Maybe you’ve been in consultancy already. Maybe you’ve been in-house. You’ve got the NEBOSH Construction or General certificate, you’re hungry to grow, but you haven’t had the support or the break you’re after.
That changes now.
At Havio, you’ll get two or three years where you’ll be under Jack’s wing, he’ll push you hard, and help you become the best consultant you can be. You’ll get exposure to high-profile projects, demanding contractors, and the chance to learn how tools like Altitude and AI are changing the game.
This isn’t WFH. You need to be in London or the Home Counties. You’ll be on site, with different teams, in the thick of it. You’ll need to be dynamic, fast paced, and ambitious. If you put the hours in, Jack will match it with coaching, guidance, and opportunities pretty hard to find elsewhere.
After those two or three years, you might want to move on. That’s fine by us. We both get something out of it. That’s our place in the food chain, and we see it as a symbiotic relationship. Or you might want to spend many more years with us and keep growing.
So if you want to turbocharge your career, this might be the step that changes the next twenty years of your work life.
We’re always on the lookout for people who feel like they belong here – even before we know we need you or what role you’d fit.
Send us something…
Yes we’d like to see your CV, but also a voice note, a short video – something that shows us who you are and why Havio sounds like your kind of workplace.
