Principal Designer Services
The CDM regulations identify a principal designer as an organisation or individual appointed by the client (commercial or domestic) to take the lead in planning, managing, monitoring and co-ordinating Health and Safety of a project involving, or likely to involve, more than one contractor.
This key duty has been central to all generations of the CDM regulations and is something Havio excels at. Since the revised Construction (Design and Management) Regulations were introduced in April 2015, we have adapted our CDM compliance service to meet the demands of the principal designer role, as well as the needs of our clients and their different contractual approaches. We work closely with clients, developers, design practices and principal contractors to provide a bespoke service that delivers maximum value.
Havio provides the following principal designer services:
Principal designer (direct) – we are directly appointed by the client under regulation five and assist the client and other duty holders in discharging their duties.
Principal designer (third party) – we are appointed by a third party and are directly employed by a design practice or principal contractor to deliver principal designer duties.
Principal designer adviser – we provide the appointed principal designer with strategic support on delivery and compliance with the CDM regulations. The principal designer retains liability for delivery of those duties.
Client adviser – we provide the client with strategic CDM compliance advice across all duties. We deliver a simple road map for compliance and offer support with ensuring other duty holders are also in line with the regulations.
CDM Compliance Services
We provide CDM compliance training to complement our principal designer services. This training supports all duty holders and organisations whose operations require compliance with the CDM regulations. It is a bespoke service, tailored to your operational and employee compliance needs. Having a clear understanding of how deep the CDM regulations reach within your organisation enables you to be better prepared, deliver a consistent approach to compliance, and challenge others to meet your standards.
Continuous Professional Development
We achieve great results in delivering CDM and Health and Safety related continuous professional development (CPD) events to clients, designers and project teams. With. They are particularly well received when using a current project as a vehicle for the CPD. These events result in some very innovative solutions in areas such as the buildability, construction methodology, future maintenance and cleaning requirements of the building or project.
These events can be delivered in multiple formats, depending on the needs and circumstances of those we are delivering to. Our open and honest approach encourages the audience to participate and share knowledge and experience, maximising the benefit for all.

Our competent source of advice service provides all duty holders with access to our team of consultants through multiple communication channels.
