CDM Business Unit Lead

A CDM Business Unit Lead is a high profile position tasked with running the construction division of Havio and ensuring that this unit is contributing to the overall success of the business.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Directing key account engagements, from initial scoping, through to delivery, quality management and budgetary control
  • To develop and implement business unit strategy that achieves profitable sector growth
  • Define target clients within business sector and cultivate methods to achieve new business and maximises existing client profitable spend
  • Manage business unit to meet company financial, people and market targets.
  • To work in collaboration with other business unit managers
  • Lead, engage and motivate team members
  • Partnering with our Clients to set and monitor H&S objectives, targets and campaigns to positively influence their H&S Culture
  • Managing several Advisors or Partners at differing levels and providing guidance and coaching in this role
  • Leading and contributing to internal development and business projects
  • Learning about our Clients’ H&S challenges and using initiative and experience to shape pragmatic H&S solutions
  • Working as a coach and mentor in line with the core company ethos both externally to our Client teams and internally to our H&S Partners & Advisors
  • Executing Client work deliverables over a wide range of H&S related products – developing H&S strategies, providing competent advice, policies, audits, inspections, training, risk assessments, safe systems of work etc
  • Interfacing with Havio Clients and their teams and attending meetings
  • Liaising with regulatory authorities, where necessary, to ensure compliance with mandatory regulations
  • Promoting a positive H&S culture with the open reporting of hazards and incidents
  • Supporting the promotion and growth of Havio to change perceptions of Health and Safety and raise standards and awareness across the industry
  • Able to work anywhere within the consultancy team as and when required

Knowledge & Experience

  • At least 6 years’ recent and relevant experience in a similar role and NEBOSH National Diploma, C&G NVQ Level 6 in Health and Safety or NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety preferred or other equivalent; or
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or NCRQ AIM Awards Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety (RQF) with a minimum of 8 years’ experience
  • Graduate Membership of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or actively working towards this; or
  • A high-level qualification in a specific specialist field. E.g. CMaPS, MIEMA etc.
  • Adaptability with the competence to juggle multiple priorities and projects while maintaining the ability to be there for each of our clients when needed
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage your own projects, schedules and provide high quality outputs
  • Formal Management / Leadership Training
  • Extensive knowledge of H&S legislation and pragmatic application of this with the ability to give the right advice while not compromising on integrity
  • An eye for detail with the ability to produce high quality and well written reports
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to look at and interpret H&S trend data
  • The personality to work within a high-performance environment

Senior Construction Health and Safety Consultant

We are looking for someone who is:

Overall Roles and Responsibilities

You will be a trusted advisor to key Client accounts and will have the responsibility of successfully managing these. This will involve:

  • Partnering with our Clients to set and monitor H&S objectives, targets and campaigns to positively influence their H&S Culture
  • Learning about our Clients’ H&S challenges and using initiative and experience to shape pragmatic H&S solutions
  • Working as a coach and mentor in line with the core company ethos both externally to our Client teams and internally to our H&S Partners & Advisors

Qualifications and Experience

Either:

  • At least 5 years’ recent and relevant experience in a similar role and NEBOSH National Diploma, C&G NVQ Level 6 in Health and Safety or NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety preferred or other equivalent; or
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or NCRQ AIM Awards Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety (RQF) with a minimum of 7 years’ experience

And:

  • Graduate Membership of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or working towards this
  • Experience of or ability to deliver all services as detailed in the day to day responsibilities

Key Skills

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels from Board Members and Directors through to Operatives working on site
  • Extensive knowledge of H&S legislation and pragmatic application of this with the ability to give the right advice while not compromising on integrity

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provision of services to all duty holders under The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Managing key account engagements, from initial scoping, through to delivery, quality management and budgetary control
  • Interfacing with Havio Clients and their teams and attending meetings
  • Undertaking site inspections with the ability to identify hazards, recommend effective actions and ensure that policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Executing Client work deliverables over a wide range of H&S related products – developing H&S strategies, risk assessments and method statements, policies and procedures etc.
  • Undertaking audits and reviews of Clients’ H&S Policies and Procedures and ultimately helping to ensure our Client’s workplaces maintain the highest professional H&S standards
  • Leading on the investigation of incidents and near misses, recommending corrective and preventative actions and ensuring these are communicated and monitored
  • Liaising with regulatory authorities, where necessary, to ensure compliance with mandatory regulations
  • Promoting a positive H&S culture with the open reporting of hazards and incidents
  • Working with the Havio Senior Management Team team to mentor, guide and coach H&S Partners and H&S Advisors
  • Leading and contributing to internal development and business projects
  • Supporting the promotion and growth of Havio to change perceptions of Health and Safety and raise standards and awareness across the industry.
