Schools and Colleges

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that the “Responsible Person” must ensure that a Fire Risk Assessment is completed focusing on all “Relevant persons”.

Responsibility lies with “The Responsible Person”. In the workplace, this is the employer and any other persons who may have control of any part of the premises, e.g. Headteachers, Caretakers, Facilities Managers.

In most cases this will be the local fire and rescue authority.

Following our visit we will complete our significant findings in a Fire Risk Assessment report. (There is likely to be more than one report for a school or college.) The document will be supplied with a prioritised action plan which, if fully acted upon, will ensure the “responsible person(s)” meet their legal obligations and work towards compliance and/or best practice. The report will be sent to you within a pre-agreed timeframe.
