Quite simply The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that the “Responsible Person” must ensure that a Fire Risk Assessment is completed. In addition, your premises may also be subject to the provisions of a license of registration (under the Licensing Act 2003), and the fire authority may wish to review your Fire Risk Assessment as part of the licensing approval process.
Responsibility lies with “The Responsible Person". In a leisure/entertainment venue this is the employer and any other persons who may have control of any part of the premises e.g. the owner or occupier.
In most cases this will be the local fire and rescue authority. However if you occupy a crown occupied/owned premises this will be inspected by the Crown fire inspectors.
Following our visit we will complete our significant findings in a Fire Risk Assessment report. The document will be supplied with a prioritised action plan which, if fully acted upon, will ensure the “responsible person(s)” meet their legal obligations and work towards compliance and/or best practice.
